The two stories share a costly response, but their beginnings differ. One person encounters hidden treasure; the other finds what he has been seeking. Reading them together allows room for differing paths toward recognition while preserving the decisive action in each.
The pearl's beauty is not described in detail. Jesus does not give a travel history for the merchant or name the ports he visits. The focus remains on recognizing worth and responding. A visual retelling should keep that concentration rather than invent an adventure around two verses.
